GMC Energy Solutions, the business is led by
Rajandren (Raj) Chetty — a professional engineer with
27 years of experience in the utility sector and more than
8 years in renewable energy and large-scale BESS.

Raj holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering,
is registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
and is affiliated with SAPVIA and SAIPPA.

Raj Chetty, lead IPP advisor at GMC Energy Solutions

A career built on real-world impact

From Utillity Control Plant to Chief Engineer in R&D, Raj has decades of insight on the energy landscape transistion.
That grounding in real-world grid behaviour, network constraints and customer integration challenges
shapes the way GMC Energy Solutions evaluates every IPP project.

In the renewable sector, Raj engineered one of
South Africa’s first operational microgrids, bringing reliable power to
communities previously off-grid. He has led or supported multiple utility-scale PV projects and storage add-ons
across South Africa and the wider region — bridging the gap between software studies, bank models and what
physically works on the network.

What GMC Energy Solutions brings to your IPP project

We act as your one-stop technical partner, from early-stage screening through to grid-ready design,
municipal and Eskom engagement and commercial alignment on PPA structures.

Bankable engineering

From concept to investment-grade decisions

We translate your solar PV and BESS ideas into utility-grade numbers that
lenders and investment committees can trust — including realistic yield & loss assessments, DC/AC sizing
rationale and scenario views for CAPEX, OPEX, IRR, NPV and LCOE.

One-stop IPP advisory

Grid connectivity, CEL & environmental pre-screening

GMC coordinates the technical workstream across multiple consultants so that your IPP development has
one accountable engineering lead. We support IEA-style environmental
pre-screening, grid & load-flow studies for municipalities and Eskom, and indicative budget quotes to inform
your financial model.

Commercial alignment

PPA and off-taker support that matches the engineering

We help align your PPA structure with production, tariff and curtailment expectations, avoiding surprises at
negotiation stage. GMC provides technical input to PPA drafting, term-sheet
reviews and off-taker discussions so that engineering realities are reflected in the contract.

How we work with IPP developers, lenders and off-takers

Whether you are shaping an early-stage solar-plus-storage concept or refining an advanced pre-feasibility,
GMC Energy Solutions plugs into your team as an independent engineering advisor. We focus on:

  • Clear, defensible assumptions that withstand lender and IC review.
  • Independent checks on third-party simulations and grid studies.
  • Documented engineering logic that feeds directly into your financial model.
  • Consistent language across engineering, environmental and commercial workstreams.
